Kismet Rock Foundation honored to be a recipient of funding from the REI Cooperative Action Fund
North Conway, NH, Dec 2023 – The Kismet Rock Foundation is honored to be a recipient of a grant from the REI Cooperative Action Fund. Kismet will receive $15,000 for two consecutive years that will go directly towards scholarships for students participating in the 2024-25 summer program seasons. Kismet is now in its 25th season providing a four-year program to underserved youth.
Kismet was one of many organizations selected whose work is directly aligned with the REI Cooperative Action Funds mission to create a more equitable outdoors by bringing together the collective strength of community.
“We are proud and excited to be recognized by the team at the REI Cooperative Action Fund,” said Executive Director Krissy Fraser. “This generous support is instrumental in enabling us to provide our rock climbing program for four consecutive years to each student at no cost to the families, offering an opportunity they may otherwise never experience.”
Kismet accepts students from a broad range of geographic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Students have an extraordinary opportunity to develop friendships with, and learn from, children whose experience is very different from their own. Kismet students regularly express an increased appreciation for their surrounding environment and engagement with outdoor activities. Kismet currently serves teenagers from Boston, MA; Manchester, Berlin, Gorham and Bartlett, NH; Fryeburg and Portland, ME.
