Kismet scholarships provide an education in technical climbing. Therefore, climbing courses are our main focus. However, our students have an opportunity for fun during the evenings and during other periods that we are not climbing. During most programs we have dinner in town on at least one evening. Swimming is always available and we occasionally go for a hike on days that are simply too wet to climb. We also occasionally visit the summit of Mt. Washington to escape the heat of summer or if we need a rest from climbing. Television videos are available.
Activities are monitored by an adult to student ratio of at least 1 to 3. Typically, living quarters are monitored by an adult to student ration of 1 to 2. Climbing instructors often join the live-in staff on rest days, during dinners, and during some evenings at “home”. Therefore there are often nearly as many adults present during activities as there are students.
